4 Steps Before Choosing the Right Werner Attic Ladder

Installing a ladder can be mind boggling enough, but what about choosing the right one? Without proper knowledge of which Werner attic ladder to choose from, you may end up selecting one that either does not fit your needs or fit your attic opening. Being prepared to choose the right Werner attic ladder for your attic will provide you with years of comfortable attic access at the right price if you choose to shop with Industrial Ladder!

#1: Know your Attic Opening Measurements

Undoubtedly one of the most important pieces of information that you will need to know to help you select the right Werner attic ladder for your home or business is the attic opening measurements. The standard measurements are 22.5” x 54”, but there are those that do not fit those exact measurements and may need a specialty ladder or adjustments. There are Werner attic ladders that come in standard sizes and also smaller or larger sizes to fit awkward measurements. Before you even consider shopping for a new attic ladder, be sure to measure the size of the opening before doing anything else.

#2: Know your Attic Floor to Opening Measurements

The second useful bit of information that you will need to know before selecting the Werner attic ladder for you is the length of space that you need your attic stairs need to cover. Many attic ladders come with the ability to customize your specific measurements, but you should be sure that the attic ladder that you choose is long enough to fit inside the accommodated measurement of the attic stairs.

#3: Know your Attic Stair Swing Clearance

The swing clearance of your attic stairs is how much space you have to work within the space that the stairs will unfold before and after use. If you do not measure correctly, you might end up with attic stairs that unfold just to scuff up your walls. This space should be extended from your attic opening, so it will require a bigger space. For smaller opening attics, the swing clearance should be measured from inside the attic and needs a height of 28″ and a depth of 44″ for enough stair movement room.

#4: Know your Landing Area Measurements

Since it can be unsafe to get on or off of an attic ladder without enough space, you need to pre-measure the area that you will be loading and unloading from the ladder. This area is both behind and front of the ladder once it is completely extended. You will likely be loading and unloading equipment and materials into the attic space, so you will need the proper room to be able to handle objects.

Selecting a Werner Attic Ladder from Industrial Ladder

Now that you know the measurements that you require, it is time to pick a product that is the right material, the right weight capacity provides the right use, and is what you desire in an attic ladder! There are a few different options for Werner attic ladders to choose from provided by Industrial Ladder including:

Werner Wooden Attic Ladders- These ladders are made of wood and hold 250-350 pounds of pressure. They fit most standard attic openings for a general option for any attic space. The wooden material provides an option for color since it can be painted to blend into your ceiling. Additionally, the wrap around hinge makes it so that heat cannot escape the attic and increase the temperature inside your house or building. These attic ladders come fully assembled so that installation is made easy for almost anybody.

Werner Aluminum Attic Ladders- These attic ladders are made of aluminum for durability but also easy manipulation due to the lightweight material. They come in a number of sizes and lengths so that they can be customized to fit your attic ladder opening. They all can hold up to 375 pounds of pressure and come assembled to promote easy installation. The wooden door is designed with a “no slam” feature, making access quiet and simple. For safety, a handrail is also included on stairs for climbing.

Werner Attic Ladder for Small Opening- If you have a smaller than custom attic ladder opening, these attic ladders are for you. With the ability to hold up to 250 pounds and fit into openings at little as 22 1/2″ x 48”, this attic is perfect for openings located in small areas. The stairway is compact enough to not need as much room for storage or clearance, which is why it works for smaller areas. These ladders also have a safety design feature of a handrail for easy access. And, just like the other Werner attic ladders, they keep your attic insulated so that heat or cold does not escape into the living space.

Roofing Equipment Through Industrial Ladder

Roofing projects require the right skill and training, as well as quality, reliable equipment. Choosing the right roofing equipment can make the difference between the successful completion of a project and unfinished business. When deciding which equipment is right for the task at hand, it’s important to assess what you’re trying to complete and to factor in the need for safety equipment. Fortunately, Industrial Ladder carries all of the roofing equipment you need to complete a project at home or at your commercial business.

Roofing Equipment

Most roofing projects, from installing solar panels to replacing the roof of a home or business, require the use of a platform hoist. This equipment allows for workers to access the roof from a stable platform, and provides enough balance and stability for workers to bring their tools up to the roof with them. Platform hoists are a good option for any roofing project. At Industrial Ladder, we carry several different types of platform hoists, including:

  •      The TP250

This platform hoist features an aluminum deck and feet for lightweight, movable stability. The TP250 is collapsible, allowing for easy transportation between job sites. With a two hundred fifty pound carrying capacity, this platform hoist is ideal for moving shingles, insulation, or other materials vertically towards high, previously inaccessible areas of the roof. The TP250 reaches up to 28 feet. The base track is four feet and constructed from durable aluminum, for a sturdy and dependable work surface.

  •      The TP400

Like the TP250, the TP400 features a four-foot aluminum base track for a durable, yet lightweight and transportable work surface. This hoist, however, has a carrying capacity of four hundred pounds, making it ideal for commercial projects that use heavier materials.

  •      RGC Pro Platform Hoist 200

This platform hoist features a carrying capacity of two hundred pounds, allowing for the transport of insulation, shingles, and tools from site to site. These hoists are available with a height capacity of up to 44 feet. They can be used in the place of cranes and forklifts for a more affordable option for professional roofers.

  •      RGC Pro Platform Hoist 400

This is a more heavy-duty option for professional roofers, as these platform hoists have a carrying capacity of four hundred pounds. This expanded carrying capacity allows for the transport and movement of heavier materials and tools, such as solar panels, which makes this the ideal choice for professional roofers who consistently have large-scale projects contracted to them. Like the RGC Pro Platform Hoist 200, these hoists can reach up to 44 feet in height.

In addition to platform hoists, Industrial Ladder also carries hoist accessories for a wide variety of roofing projects. This includes gas and electric engines, so workers can use equipment inside or outside, as well as a variety of replacement tracks and platforms. Industrial Ladder also offers carriers for hoists, which allow for the easy lifting of roofing materials such as solar panels and plywood.

Roofing Tools and Safety

In addition to platform hoists, at Industrial Ladder we carry roofing safety equipment, such as warning line systems and a variety of harnesses, as well as roofing tools and materials. Roofing requires a variety of tools and accessories, many of which we offer, including:

  •      Warning line systems that signal a job site and warn other workers and pedestrians of the presence of workers and roofing equipment
  •      Steel roof anchors for commercial projects
  •      Hoisting wheels for lifting materials up ladders and platform hoists
  •      Trailers for moving materials and tools
  •      Shingle shaper for cutting shingles, and shingle remover tools
  •      Ladder stabilizers for increased job site safety
  •      Ladder hooks
  •      Heavy duty wheelbarrows for safe transport of materials
  •      Guardrails for job site safety and compliance with OSHA regulations
  •      Core cutters for assessing quality of materials

At Industrial Ladder, we understand that commercial and home roofing projects require specialized materials and safety tools to allow for access to areas of the roof that may be normally out of reach. That’s why we carry the latest in roofing tools, from platform hoists that make the roof more accessible, to safety harnesses to prevent falls. If you have a roofing project coming up, or your business specializes in roofing projects, we can provide you and your company with all of the equipment you will need to safely and successfully complete your tasks. Call today for a consultation or to order materials and equipment at 1-800-833-0800.

Deciding between Ladder Types for the Job at Hand

Before deciding on a ladder for your job, it is important to know different ladder types so that you chose the best ladder for application, safety, and height. If you do not choose the right ladder type for the job at hand, it could be a costly mistake. Learn about the different ladder types before deciding on a ladder to purchase so that it fits all of your needs.

Ladder Types Offered through Industrial Ladder

Extension: These ladders are single sided. They rest on the structure that you wish to ascend. In either two or three sections, these ladders do not fold away but slide to extend and reduce for storage. They are the best option for higher areas since these ladders can get the highest.

Step: This is your everyday standard ladder that folds out into a triangle and has two sides. Traditionally, you can only ascend up one side of a step ladder, but there are double sided step ladders for some additional standing room. These ladders are great for everyday needs and tasks but do not get higher than 12 feet high in the Werner line.

Step Stool: This is a miniature step ladder meant for household tasks. They come in a range of options and a number of sizes for different uses and storage needs. They are designed for single person use.

Fixed Access: These ladders are fixed to a structure for permanent use. They can come with or without ascension cages for safety while entering or exiting. These are optimal for emergency exits and for permanent rooftop access areas.

Platform: This type of ladder is similar to the structure of the step ladder but has one enhancement; a platform. This provides an option for a work area that can hold tools and materials. But, implementing a platform can sometimes take away a ladder’s height capability.

Single: These ladders are lengthy, much like extension ladders. But, they only have a single section, as opposed to two or three that collapse to make smaller for transport and storage. There are specific jobs that require the use of single ladders like entering and exiting manholes.

Special: If you need a ladder to perform multiple tasks or be able to be placed in awkward spaces, specialty or multipurpose ladder types may be right for you.

Characteristics of Ladders to Keep in Mind before Purchase

Height: Depending on how high your intended project is, the ladder you will need to use can differ. Higher areas require the use of extension ladders for optimal safety and security. There is no need to perform balancing acts with your step ladder. Doing so could cause you your life. Instead, get a tool that is right for the job.

Rating: It is important to keep in mind your weight and the weight of your tools when deciding on what type of ladder is right for you. It is suggested that carpenters, for example, add 40 pounds to their weight in considering ladder ratings. Different styles, heights, and companies offer various weight ratings for ladders.

Material: One of the most important aspects of the ladder you are considering buying is its material. Wood, aluminum, and fiberglass all make good options but it is vital to understand what job you will be performing in deciding the material. Fiberglass does not conduct electricity so it is good for electrical use, but it the most expensive option. Wood is inexpensive but the life capacity of wood ladders is less because they are prone to splintering and rot. Aluminum is sturdy and less expensive but it conducts electricity. To decide which material is right for your ladder types, make sure you know what you will be using your ladder for.

Storage Solutions: Weatherguard Truck Boxes

When working on commercial construction projects, storage, and organization of tools can save time, space, and money. Selecting a box for storage is an important decision for your business, and choosing the right storage system offers protection for expensive equipment. Preventing erosion and weather damage as well as theft is a security measure that allows for investments in equipment to truly pay off. Storage and organization allow for quick access to essential tools, speeding up construction time and allowing for the completion of more projects. Weatherguard truck boxes come in a variety of designs that can enhance your business and help with convenient and easy transfer of tools from one site to another, and from home to work.

Weatherguard Truck Boxes

Choosing the best storage system for work vehicles is an important decision. At Industrial Ladder, we offer the highest quality storage systems and tool boxes. Choosing a toolbox depends partially on the size and layout of your truck, and where you want your toolbox to be mounted. The basic types of truck toolboxes are:

  •     Saddle boxes: these toolboxes are mounted behind the cab of the truck, and either rests in the bed or are mounted to the sides to allow for storage space beneath the tool box. They usually fit over the sides of the truck bed and feature top lid access. Weatherguard saddle boxes come in aluminum or steel, with a black, white, or metallic powder-coated finish that keeps them durable for years.
  •     Dual-lid cross-box: these boxes fit horizontally across the bed of the truck, behind the cab. Weatherguard truck boxes with a dual lid allow for access to both sides of the box, and therefore allow for you to organize tools separately within the box without compromising easy and quick access.
  •     Chests: chests are a good option for people who wish to regularly use cab covers because they usually fit directly to the floor of the cab and do not rise above the sides of the truck bed. This allows for the regular use of a cab cover to protect tools and the truck bed from extreme weather elements, and it also lends greater rearview visibility. Because they fit the floor, chests do limit space in the cab of the truck.
  •      Side boxes: These toolboxes fit the side of the truck bed rather than directly behind the cab. They are available in low-side, which fit the floor of the bed, or high-side, which are mounted to the sides of the truck bed and generally leave more space in the bed of the truck. They offer easy access to tools from the side of the truck while working on a project.
  •     Underbed boxes: Available in aluminum or steel, Weatherguard under bed boxes fit under the body of flatbed trucks and offer secure storage for items out of the way of the bed of a truck. They are especially useful for utility truck storage, as they do not take up any space on the flatbed and allow for maximum use of space for transporting heavy equipment.
  •      Wheel-well boxes: Weatherguard offers “pork chop” tool boxes; otherwise known as wheel well toolboxes. These secure storage units fit into the sides of the truck bed, over the wheel wells, making use of the space above the wheels in the bed of the truck that is otherwise wasted. They are ideal for side access and for maximizing bed space in your work truck.

Choosing the Right Style

Choosing the most useful toolbox for your professional needs depends upon how you wish to utilize space in your truck. If you need side access with maximized bed space for other storage, choosing a high-side box is a good option. For people that need extra storage, choosing a saddle or crossover box along with side boxes can provide extra tool storage and still leave bed space behind the cab for tools that don’t need to be stored in a locked box. The best decision regarding truck boxes is made with daily needs and tasks in mind and depends upon the nature of your business.

Features of Weatherguard Tool Boxes

Weatherguard offers superior quality tool boxes that address space and security issues. Some of the features of Weatherguard truck boxes that make them the best choice for your business include:

  •      Limited lifetime warranties to protect your investment
  •      Powder-coat finishes that keep the toolbox durable through heavy use
  •      Tamper-resistant locks for security
  •      Optional drawers, compartments, and dividers for organization
  •      Weather-resistant latches and seals to keep tools undamaged
  •      Reinforced panels to enhance security and prevent theft

At Industrial Ladder, we pride ourselves on offering the highest-quality construction tools and accessories. Weatherguard truck boxes are state-of-the-art, modern and reliable storage systems that protect against weather damage and theft. Choosing a quality storage system for your materials and tools protects your investments and your business. Call Industrial Ladder today for information or for ordering your Weatherguard truck boxes, at 1-800-833-0800.

Step Ladder Safety During the Holiday Season

Step ladders are used in businesses and homes every day to accomplish a variety of tasks. During the holiday season, many families use a step ladder at home to hang decorations, such as Christmas lights and displays. In order to make sure the holidays go off without a hitch, ladder safety is very important. Failing to implement safety measures, especially during the holiday season when there may be icy conditions, frozen ground, or sleet and snow, can result in serious and sometimes permanent injury.

When beginning a project that requires the use of ladders, selecting the best equipment for the job is the first task. Step ladders are most commonly used for household projects, and they come in a variety of sizes.

Step Ladder Choices

  •      Fiberglass step ladders
  •      Aluminum step ladders
  •      Twin front ladders
  •      Step ladder extensions (aluminum or fiberglass)

Depending upon the project, fiberglass and aluminum ladders offer different benefits. Fiberglass ladders are more expensive than aluminum ladders, but they are sturdier and hold up better in inclement weather. They also do not conduct electricity and can be more safely used around electrical sources such as power lines. For these reasons, fiberglass ladders are a great choice for long-term construction projects or for commercial purposes, or for projects that will be done in icy or rainy conditions.

Aluminum ladders are less expensive than fiberglass ladders, and they are lighter and easier to move during the course of your project. Although they are less resistant and more pliable than fiberglass ladders, aluminum ladders are a good option for a project that requires a lot of movement, such as hanging Christmas lights.

Both options have advantages, depending upon the project you are working on. For a short-term project, such as seasonal decorating, aluminum ladders may be your best option due to their mobility and less expensive price tag. However, if you plan on using your ladder year-round for a variety of projects, a fiberglass ladder is a good option.

Safety on Step Ladders

Ladder safety is always paramount, but during the holiday season, there are extra safety measures that are important to implement.

Step ladder safety during the holidays:

  •      Winter weather brings snow and icy conditions in many parts of the country. Never place a ladder on top of ice, snow, or salted surfaces, as this may cause the ladder to move or slip while in use.
  •      Many people enjoy a cocktail during the holiday season with family and friends. Never operate a ladder or any other construction equipment after consuming alcohol- save the celebratory eggnog for after your project is completed!
  •      Distractions can be hazardous and deadly. While working on your step ladder, make sure to stay focused on the task at hand.
  •      Checking out the Christmas lights once the sun goes down is a festive tradition for many, but make sure you complete your project during daylight hours so that you have optimum visibility.
  •      When working with a lot of equipment, or bulky decorations such as strings of lights, a tool belt is useful in order to keep your hands free and maintain balance.

As always, safety during work is a priority. When using a ladder, especially during the winter season, following safe protocol and using the correct equipment is vital in order to avoid an injury that could spoil this festive time of year. At Industrial Ladder, we supply all of the equipment and safety tools for ladder usage necessary for any seasonal or year-round personal or commercial project. For information about or products or to order, call us at 1-800-833-0800.

Tips to Adhere to for Step Stool Safety

Since step ladders are a household item, they are used quite frequently. This increased use provides increased risk for injury to occur by way of falling. To prevent injury, there are a few safety precautions that should be followed before using your step stool. Practicing step stool safety can greatly increase your odds for not obtaining injury when performing household tasks.

What is a Step Stool?

A step stool is a small step ladder that is self-supportive with four legs. To be considered a step stool, the device must open and close, be non-adjustable in height, be easily portable, and be less than 32 inches in total height. They are many options when it comes to step stools when it comes to design and functionality. Before deciding which one is best for you and your home, browse our selection of step stools online.

Tips for Step Stool Safety

  • Always be sure that the ground that you place your step stool on is level. If all four feet are not stable, the risk of fall related injury is much greater.
  • Before every use, make sure that the step ladder that you are using is completely open. This means that the spreaders are locked in place so that the ladder is stable enough to stand on without causing a fall.
  • Bending or leaning may be tempting to get a good reach when on a step stool, but this accounts for many of the fall related injuries that occur during step stool use. Be sure to keep your body parallel with the vertical positioning of the step stool during its use. Additionally, stand near the middle of the stool rungs as much as possible to prevent injury.
  • Do not move the step stool while you are still on it. Always descend any ladder before repositioning. Additionally, do not attempt to scale the step stool from the side or the back. Only climb a ladder facing its front. Use any ladder only for its intended purpose if you wish to refrain from attaining injury.
  • Inspect the feet of the step stool before use to make sure anti-slip protection is evident. Additionally, do not use any ladder on wet, icy, or slippery surfaces.
  • To ensure step stool safety, never attempt to lengthen the height of your stool by placing it on top of boxes or other equipment.
  • Children should not be left unsupervised around a step stool. To prevent child accident, never leave an open step stool unattended.

When Should a Ladder Cage be Implemented?

Ladders are used daily to scale multiple amounts of objects for various jobs. In some instances, there needs to be a permanently placed ladder to give direct access to an area that can only be reached by a ladder. In these cases, safety requirements call for the use of a cage for certain heights. A ladder cage is a good way to prevent fall-related accidents while getting on and off of ladders.

Why Do I Need a Ladder Cage?

Ladders that are extended up into the air with no form of protection need some type of fall protection. That’s where ladder cages come into play. They provide added support for people that are getting onto the ladder from above or entering the highest section of a ladder on a structure. OSHA requires that any fixed ladder that reaches higher than 20 feet must have a cage attached to the loading area.  Additionally, if your ladder is taller than 20 feet, the cage must meet all the standards that the OSHA requires.

Just like a guardrail, a cage for a fixed ladder must be located at least 42 inches over the top of the landing. The bottom of the cage must have at least a 4-inch flare to make the entrance bigger than the midsection for easier access. If you want to implement a ladder cage on a fixed ladder that is shorter than 20 feet, or you wish to implement a cage throughout the entire ladder, the bottom of the cage must be higher than 7 feet off the ground. This gives enough room for an individual to enter the caged area without attaining injury.

The Few Exceptions to OSHA Ladder Cage Rules

Like with any rule, there are a few exceptions. The only circumstances that do not require a ladder cage on a fixed ladder higher than 20 feet is  a water tower, water tank, and chimney structure. In these instances, safety precautions can be used in exchange for a ladder cage. These safety features include rope grabs, lifelines, and harness systems. If you are looking for safety precaution equipment for these exceptional circumstances, IndustrialLadder.com can provide you with all of your height safety needs.

Buying a Fixed Ladder with Cage

If you are in need of a fixed ladder that reaches higher than 20 feet, IndustrialLadder.com can provide you with a caged Cotterman ladder that fits all of your needs. Our longest walk-through caged ladder can reach up to 32 feet. These ladders provide the most durable and long-lasting fixed ladder experience that you can find on the market. Constructed with steel, these ladders will be all you will ever need to buy to access the height you need on a fixed structure. Visit our website to browse our list of options.

How to Effectively Select the Right Van Partitions

If you own a van that’s vital in operating a business, either yours or an employer’s, the best way to make sure that you keep organized and efficient is by utilizing van partitions. There are many different van partitions on the market to be aware of before making the best selection for your vehicle. Ultimately, you want your van to work for you and make your life easier, which is what partitions provide.

What are Van Partitions?

Van partitions, or bulkheads, are a tool to promote safety and organization inside your vehicle. Basically, a partition is a separator from the cargo and passenger sections of a van. This provides safety for the driver and passenger from shifting equipment during transport. Additionally, it keeps your tools in one place so they do not move to the front section of the van out of sight and reach.

What Vans Can Have Partitions?

IndustrialLadder.com offers a number of different selections for partitions for a wide array of different vehicles. Each partition is designed to fit exactly into the specific van that it was tailored for, so you never have to worry about the right fit. Additionally, each vehicle has a few different options in the selections provided, as each partition comes with different features. So far, the vans that we provide partitions for include:

  • Ford Transit 2015+
  • Ford Transit Connect 2014+
  • Ram Promaster
  • Ram ProMaster City
  • Nissan Vans
  • Nissan NV200
  • Mercedes Vans
  • Chevrolet City Express
  • Sprinter Vans
  • HHR Vans
  • Ford Transit Prior to 2014
  • Full-Size Vans
  • Mini Vans

How Do I Select the One for My Vehicle

The multiple possibilities and options when it comes to van partitions offered by IndustrialLadder.com may seem a little overwhelming. First, select your vehicle from the list under “van equipment” on our website. This section will bring you to a list of available van partitions for your vehicle. Next, you must decide which features are the most important for your partition to have. Features in partitions include:

Access to cargo: Some partitions give access from the cab section of the van to the cargo area by way of a door with hinges.

Sight clearance: It is imperative to decide whether you desire a partition in which you may see through or one which blocks visual access to the cargo area. Partitions constructed of wire will allow the most visual access but are not available in every van model.

Leg Room: If you are taller or require more room in the cab area, it is a good idea to pick a partition that features extended wing kits, which allow for 3 more feet in the passenger area of the van.

Organization: Certain partitions allow for shelving accessories and additional mounting features to hold tools and help keep your van organized. If this is a feature you wish to utilize, you should choose a partition that supports organization as a function.

Using a Werner Extension Plank to Paint High Ceilings

If you need to paint high ceilings, there is a safe way to go about doing so. The Werner extension plank works as an accessory to your extension ladder so that you can paint high surface areas. There are a few things that you need to do before painting so that your paint job is effective and your Werner extension plank is utilized properly.

What You’ll Need

Before painting, make sure that you have all the tools you will need for your project. This includes two A-framed step ladders, a Werner extension plank, painting tarps, painter’s tape, a screwdriver, paint rollers, paint brushes, primer, paint, and an extension pole if needed.

Step by Step Instructions to Paint High Ceilings

  1. First, you should remove any furniture from the room so that it is not damaged by dropped or spilled paint. Additionally, removing furniture will give you more space to move around and be efficient while working.
  2. If you have flooring that you wish to be spared, lay out tarps or plastic sheets that can catch any paint that is dropped or spilled during the painting process.
  3. Remove anything that is going to get in the way of your painting on the surface like electrical covers for outlets.
  4. Use masking or painter’s tape to mark off the territory you will be painting and to assure that paint does not get onto surfaces that don’t need it.
  5. Turn the electricity of any fixture that is attached to the ceiling you will be working on to prevent electrical injury.
  6. Develop your own scaffolding system by utilizing a Werner extension plank. Place it between two stepladders to provide a place to work high enough for you to reach the ceiling that needs painting.
  7. Using prime, cut into the sides of the ceiling where you have placed the masking tape. Once all sides are hand painted, a roller can be implemented to finish priming. If you still cannot reach the ceiling with the added help of a Werner extension plank, an extended paint roller can be purchased and implemented to get the right reach.
  8. After the primer has dried, repeat the painting process with you paint color.

Getting Your Own Werner Extension Plank

If you need step ladders or the Werner extension plank to complete your project, IndustrialLadder.com has all of your painting needs. Additional to planks and ladders, we have scaffolding systems designed for painting work outside of the home in the construction industry. We take pride in the fact that we only offer top of the line products to our business and home owners so that they never have to worry about the quality of what they are using during their projects. Weatherguard Ladder Racks Save Time and Storage

There are many professions that require the use of a ladder. Most of these professions require a ladder to be transported to jobs for its use. Industrial Ladder provides affordable prices on Weatherguard ladder racks as well as provides shipping right to your door.

The Benefits of Weatherguard Ladder Racks

Additional Storage Space: Instead of placing a ladder in your truck bed, Weatherguard ladder racks clear that space for other storage needs. The space that you used to store your ladder can now be used for equipment or materials that are also needed for work.

Lower the Potential Risk for Hazard: Since unloading and loading ladders can lead to injury, installing and using Weatherguard ladder racks provide a safer alternative. Some ladder racks do the work for you with a hydraulic system, and others provide a separate space for transport that allows for easier loading and unloading.

Prevent Ladder Damage: Throwing your ladder in the back of a truck or van can leave it exposed to potential damage during transport. Weatherguard ladder racks provide a separate storage space that secures the ladder during motion so that no damage is done to the ladder.

Better Productivity: Weatherguard ladder racks lessen the time spent unloading and loading ladders for transport and provide additional space for storage, making work more efficient. More gets done when there is less to worry about.

Choosing Weatherguard Ladder Racks for Your Job

When considering purchasing a ladder rack, it is important to identify which kind you will need. There are multiple types of ladder racks which provide different functionalities. What to Know about Installing a Werner Attic Ladder

Attic ladders give you the opportunity to utilize space for storage you wouldn’t have access to before. A Werner attic ladder will undoubtedly provide the durability, safety standards, and ease of use that you are looking for in purchasing an attic ladder for your home. After purchasing a Werner attic ladder, there’s a good chance that you will have to install it yourself. To do so, there are a few steps to follow so that you can guarantee your own safety and the safety of anyone who will be using the attic ladder.

Step Number One: Preparing for Install

The first thing you should do before attempting an install is to read the instruction manual completely. This manual will instruct you in the tools that you will need to complete the job. These tools include a carpenter square, drill, hammer, hacksaw, pencil, step ladder, tape measure, wrench, and a Phillip’s screwdriver. Make sure that all the parts of the ladder are evident and that everything looks undamaged. If something doesn’t seem right, send the attic ladder back to the manufacturer for replacement before installing. Most importantly, don’t attempt to install unless you are confident in your skills to do so.

Step Number Two: Preparing the Opening of the Attic Ladder

Remove any trim around the attic opening and make sure the measurements are right. All sides of the attic opening should be flat and undamaged before you install. On the ends of the opening, support boards must be temporarily installed to support the attic ladder. Fasten them onto the support board headers with the drill and three screws for durable placement.

Step Number Three: Placing the Attic Ladder in Opening

Next, the ladder must be placed in the opening. Do not remove the zip tie that is keeping the sections of the attic ladder in one piece for easy transport through the attic opening. First, you should weave the pull cord through the attic door hole and tie to the washer provided. Next, fit the attic ladder through the opening. You must have an additional person in the attic there to grab the ladder and hold into place. Angle the ladder so that it fits into the opening and rest it on the temporary support boards. Then, screw the frame of the attic ladder into the header of the opening from inside of the attic.

Step Number Four: Mounting the Ladder into Place

Mount the ladder is as easy as pre-drilling and adding screws with drill into predesignated areas around the frame of the attic ladder. Be sure to start at the header side with hinges. Lag screws and washers should be used for optimal security. Be sure that you test the door to make sure it closes without any issues. Now you can remove the temporary support boards from outside the attic opening.

Step Number Five: Getting the Right Height

The first thing you must to do to determine the proper height of the attic ladder is measure from the floor to the attic opening. The instruction manual will tell you how much you must cut off from bottom of ladder depending on the measurement. Remove the zip ties from the ladder so that it can be extended. Pull the ladder out and put the lowest section of the ladder under the middle section. Measure the cutting area with your pencil. Use your hacksaw to cut off the predetermined excess material. Extend all of the ladder sections so that you may install the ladder feet. To do so, place the feet on the ends of the ladder where they would sit after install. Mark where the foot should be placed so that drill can be pre-drilled. Place screw and lug nut to finish and repeat on the other side. Don’t forget to always read your manual before doing any installations. To purchase your very own Werner attic ladder, go to IndustrialLadder.com for affordable prices, options, and delivery right to your home or business!

Buy Ladders Online? Know your Ladder Terminology First

There are many different terms to know before purchasing a ladder. How will you know what services a ladder provides if you don’t know the anatomy of the ladder? Additionally and more importantly, how will you follow proper safety techniques and procedures if you’re not aware of safety terminology? Before you buy ladders online, make sure you are aware of these ladder terms.

Types of Ladders

Stepladder: This is a type of ladder that cannot be extended in length. It’s your generic painter’s ladder that is self-supportive. Its base is supported by hinges and has flat steps leading all the way to the top.

Step Stool: This is pretty much a miniature stepladder that folds up for easy storage and is easily portable. It’s mainly used for small jobs, since they are smaller in height. They’re optimal for everyday household use and odd jobs.

Extension Ladder: This type of ladder is not self-supporting, so it requires to rest on the structure that you need to climb. Extension ladders have the ability to extend to a desired height. Additionally, they have extra features that can be added on like a rope and pulley system for tool retrieval. Ladder adjustment is made possible because extension ladders are constructed of two sections that slide next to each other by way of gliding brackets.

Combination Ladder: These ladders are able to be both extension and step ladders, depending how they are set up at the moment, hence the title of combination.

Single Ladder: A non-self-supportive ladder that is only one section, making it non adjustable in height.

Platform Ladder: A step ladder that is self-supportive with a platform for additional standing space while working on a ladder.

The FBI reported that an estimated one billion dollars is stolen yearly from construction sites and placed in the hands of thieves. They also rob businesses of precious time with job site delays and even more money from raises in insurance policies. Protect your tools and your business with the highest quality job site storage you can find in a Knaack tool chest.

Why a Knaack Tool Chest?

Knaack has been coming up with quality job site storage to provide safety for those in the construction industry for over 50 years. Four-way skids that are included on every Knaack storage component provide more safety, giving you the option to bolt your chest to the floor. Additionally, skids on all corners are designed for forklift retrieval, providing added ease in transportation. Casters can also be added to the skids to provide on-the-go movement.

Additional Features of the Knaack Tool Chest

Why Many Consider a Werner Step Ladder with Platform

When searching for a step ladder to purchase in and around the home, a step ladder with platform is your best bet for safety, convenience, and versatility. There are many benefits to owning a ladder with a built-in platform from IndustrialLadder.com. Knowing your options before you buy will help you to make the decision that will give you the greatest advantage.

Werner PD6200 Series Ladder with Platform

This ladder provides many options that can benefit you on the job or at home. First, this platform ladder allows whoever is standing on the platform to face in any direction, without having to climb off the ladder to reposition. The platform is an extra-large design intended to give workers a large standing area while working. This standing workspace also includes a toe guard to prevent unnecessary falls while using the ladder. The extended guardrail gives the worker standing on the platform a place to rest his hands when off balance. Additionally, it holds small items and tools for added convenience. This state of the art Werner ladder is rated to hold up to 300 pounds of pressure.

Werner PD7300 Series Step Ladder with Platform

This step ladder is basically the same as the PD6200 series except that it has built on casters that allow for it to be transported with ease. The extra large platform still allows for movement while working. Each step is knee braced and slip resistant to ensure optimal safety. The footpads are enlarged for slip-proof placement, even when someone is standing on the ladder.

Little Giant Aerial Safety Cage Fiberglass

Construction safety regulations require that workers that go beyond a certain height must be attached to a rope tied to anchor for safety from falls. In some situations of construction jobs, this is just impossible to accomplish. The little giant aerial safety cage allows for workers to legally be over the height deemed unsafe without rope and anchor and to have use of both hands. This step ladder is made of a fiberglass material, which ensures that it will not rust or conduct electricity. The cage of this ladder is adjustable at every foot, giving options for multiple heights. This step ladder with platform also is able to be used in awkward situations, giving a safe alternative when dealing with stairs or uneven surfaces. The platform is completely surrounded by a cage, covering the worker with safety as he works. Wheel casters come standard with this ladder, giving it the option to be moved with ease on command.
