How to Effectively Select the Right Van Partitions

If you own a van that’s vital in operating a business, either yours or an employer’s, the best way to make sure that you keep organized and efficient is by utilizing van partitions. There are many different van partitions on the market to be aware of before making the best selection for your vehicle. Ultimately, you want your van to work for you and make your life easier, which is what partitions provide.

What are Van Partitions?

Van partitions, or bulkheads, are a tool to promote safety and organization inside your vehicle. Basically, a partition is a separator from the cargo and passenger sections of a van. This provides safety for the driver and passenger from shifting equipment during transport. Additionally, it keeps your tools in one place so they do not move to the front section of the van out of sight and reach.

What Vans Can Have Partitions?

IndustrialLadder.com offers a number of different selections for partitions for a wide array of different vehicles. Each partition is designed to fit exactly into the specific van that it was tailored for, so you never have to worry about the right fit. Additionally, each vehicle has a few different options in the selections provided, as each partition comes with different features. So far, the vans that we provide partitions for include:

  • Ford Transit 2015+
  • Ford Transit Connect 2014+
  • Ram Promaster
  • Ram ProMaster City
  • Nissan Vans
  • Nissan NV200
  • Mercedes Vans
  • Chevrolet City Express
  • Sprinter Vans
  • HHR Vans
  • Ford Transit Prior to 2014
  • Full-Size Vans
  • Mini Vans

How Do I Select the One for My Vehicle

The multiple possibilities and options when it comes to van partitions offered by IndustrialLadder.com may seem a little overwhelming. First, select your vehicle from the list under “van equipment” on our website. This section will bring you to a list of available van partitions for your vehicle. Next, you must decide which features are the most important for your partition to have. Features in partitions include:

Access to cargo: Some partitions give access from the cab section of the van to the cargo area by way of a door with hinges.

Sight clearance: It is imperative to decide whether you desire a partition in which you may see through or one which blocks visual access to the cargo area. Partitions constructed of wire will allow the most visual access but are not available in every van model.

Leg Room: If you are taller or require more room in the cab area, it is a good idea to pick a partition that features extended wing kits, which allow for 3 more feet in the passenger area of the van.

Organization: Certain partitions allow for shelving accessories and additional mounting features to hold tools and help keep your van organized. If this is a feature you wish to utilize, you should choose a partition that supports organization as a function.

Using a Werner Extension Plank to Paint High Ceilings

If you need to paint high ceilings, there is a safe way to go about doing so. The Werner extension plank works as an accessory to your extension ladder so that you can paint high surface areas. There are a few things that you need to do before painting so that your paint job is effective and your Werner extension plank is utilized properly.

What You’ll Need

Before painting, make sure that you have all the tools you will need for your project. This includes two A-framed step ladders, a Werner extension plank, painting tarps, painter’s tape, a screwdriver, paint rollers, paint brushes, primer, paint, and an extension pole if needed.

Step by Step Instructions to Paint High Ceilings

  1. First, you should remove any furniture from the room so that it is not damaged by dropped or spilled paint. Additionally, removing furniture will give you more space to move around and be efficient while working.
  2. If you have flooring that you wish to be spared, lay out tarps or plastic sheets that can catch any paint that is dropped or spilled during the painting process.
  3. Remove anything that is going to get in the way of your painting on the surface like electrical covers for outlets.
  4. Use masking or painter’s tape to mark off the territory you will be painting and to assure that paint does not get onto surfaces that don’t need it.
  5. Turn the electricity of any fixture that is attached to the ceiling you will be working on to prevent electrical injury.
  6. Develop your own scaffolding system by utilizing a Werner extension plank. Place it between two stepladders to provide a place to work high enough for you to reach the ceiling that needs painting.
  7. Using prime, cut into the sides of the ceiling where you have placed the masking tape. Once all sides are hand painted, a roller can be implemented to finish priming. If you still cannot reach the ceiling with the added help of a Werner extension plank, an extended paint roller can be purchased and implemented to get the right reach.
  8. After the primer has dried, repeat the painting process with you paint color.

Getting Your Own Werner Extension Plank

If you need step ladders or the Werner extension plank to complete your project, IndustrialLadder.com has all of your painting needs. Additional to planks and ladders, we have scaffolding systems designed for painting work outside of the home in the construction industry. We take pride in the fact that we only offer top of the line products to our business and home owners so that they never have to worry about the quality of what they are using during their projects. Weatherguard Ladder Racks Save Time and Storage

There are many professions that require the use of a ladder. Most of these professions require a ladder to be transported to jobs for its use. If you are a professional whose job requires the use and transport of a ladder, Weatherguard Ladder Racks provide a safe and easy way to transport your ladders without taking up valuable storage space. Industrial Ladder provides affordable prices on Weatherguard ladder racks as well as provides shipping right to your door.

The Benefits of Weatherguard Ladder Racks

Additional Storage Space: Instead of placing a ladder in your truck bed, Weatherguard ladder racks clear that space for other storage needs. The space that you used to store your ladder can now be used for equipment or materials that are also needed for work.

Lower the Potential Risk for Hazard: Since unloading and loading ladders can lead to injury, installing and using Weatherguard ladder racks provide a safer alternative. Some ladder racks do the work for you with a hydraulic system, and others provide a separate space for transport that allows for easier loading and unloading.

Prevent Ladder Damage: Throwing your ladder in the back of a truck or van can leave it exposed to potential damage during transport. Weatherguard ladder racks provide a separate storage space that secures the ladder during motion so that no damage is done to the ladder.

Better Productivity: Weatherguard ladder racks lessen the time spent unloading and loading ladders for transport and provide additional space for storage, making work more efficient. More gets done when there is less to worry about.

Choosing Weatherguard Ladder Racks for Your Job

When considering purchasing a ladder rack, it is important to identify which kind you will need. There are multiple types of ladder racks which provide different functionalities. Additionally, there are also different materials to choose from when deciding the right ladder rack. Aluminum racks provide a lighter option that reduces the risk of corrosion. What to Know about Installing a Werner Attic Ladder

Attic ladders give you the opportunity to utilize space for storage you wouldn’t have access to before. A Werner attic ladder will undoubtedly provide the durability, safety standards, and ease of use that you are looking for in purchasing an attic ladder for your home. After purchasing a Werner attic ladder, there’s a good chance that you will have to install it yourself. To do so, there are a few steps to follow so that you can guarantee your own safety and the safety of anyone who will be using the attic ladder.

Step Number One: Preparing for Install

The first thing you should do before attempting an install is to read the instruction manual completely. This manual will instruct you in the tools that you will need to complete the job. These tools include a carpenter square, drill, hammer, hacksaw, pencil, step ladder, tape measure, wrench, and a Phillip’s screwdriver. Make sure that all the parts of the ladder are evident and that everything looks undamaged. If something doesn’t seem right, send the attic ladder back to the manufacturer for replacement before installing. Most importantly, don’t attempt to install unless you are confident in your skills to do so.

Step Number Two: Preparing the Opening of the Attic Ladder

Remove any trim around the attic opening and make sure the measurements are right. All sides of the attic opening should be flat and undamaged before you install. On the ends of the opening, support boards must be temporarily installed to support the attic ladder. Fasten them onto the support board headers with the drill and three screws for durable placement.

Step Number Three: Placing the Attic Ladder in Opening

Next, the ladder must be placed in the opening. Do not remove the zip tie that is keeping the sections of the attic ladder in one piece for easy transport through the attic opening. First, you should weave the pull cord through the attic door hole and tie to the washer provided. Next, fit the attic ladder through the opening. You must have an additional person in the attic there to grab the ladder and hold into place. Angle the ladder so that it fits into the opening and rest it on the temporary support boards. Then, screw the frame of the attic ladder into the header of the opening from inside of the attic.

Step Number Four: Mounting the Ladder into Place

Mount the ladder is as easy as pre-drilling and adding screws with drill into predesignated areas around the frame of the attic ladder. Be sure to start at the header side with hinges. Lag screws and washers should be used for optimal security. Be sure that you test the door to make sure it closes without any issues. Now you can remove the temporary support boards from outside the attic opening.

Step Number Five: Getting the Right Height

The first thing you must to do to determine the proper height of the attic ladder is measure from the floor to the attic opening. The instruction manual will tell you how much you must cut off from bottom of ladder depending on the measurement. Remove the zip ties from the ladder so that it can be extended. Pull the ladder out and put the lowest section of the ladder under the middle section. Measure the cutting area with your pencil. Use your hacksaw to cut off the predetermined excess material. Extend all of the ladder sections so that you may install the ladder feet. To do so, place the feet on the ends of the ladder where they would sit after install. Mark where the foot should be placed so that drill can be pre-drilled. Place screw and lug nut to finish and repeat on the other side. Don’t forget to always read your manual before doing any installations. To purchase your very own Werner attic ladder, go to IndustrialLadder.com for affordable prices, options, and delivery right to your home or business!

Buy Ladders Online? Know your Ladder Terminology First

There are many different terms to know before purchasing a ladder. How will you know what services a ladder provides if you don’t know the anatomy of the ladder? Additionally and more importantly, how will you follow proper safety techniques and procedures if you’re not aware of safety terminology? Before you buy ladders online, make sure you are aware of these ladder terms.

Types of Ladders

Stepladder: This is a type of ladder that cannot be extended in length. It’s your generic painter’s ladder that is self-supportive. Its base is supported by hinges and has flat steps leading all the way to the top.

Step Stool: This is pretty much a miniature stepladder that folds up for easy storage and is easily portable. It’s mainly used for small jobs, since they are smaller in height. They’re optimal for everyday household use and odd jobs.

Extension Ladder: This type of ladder is not self-supporting, so it requires to rest on the structure that you need to climb. Extension ladders have the ability to extend to a desired height. Additionally, they have extra features that can be added on like a rope and pulley system for tool retrieval. Ladder adjustment is made possible because extension ladders are constructed of two sections that slide next to each other by way of gliding brackets.

Combination Ladder: These ladders are able to be both extension and step ladders, depending how they are set up at the moment, hence the title of combination.

Single Ladder: A non-self-supportive ladder that is only one section, making it non adjustable in height.

Platform Ladder: A step ladder that is self-supportive with a platform for additional standing space while working on a ladder.

Ladder Anatomy Terminology

Rungs/Cleats/Steps: Horizontal pieces on a ladder made for a person to stand on to ascend or descend the ladder being used.

Base: The bottom section of a ladder.

Fly: The top section of a ladder.

Ladder Safety Terminology

Visual Inspection: An inspection done visually before use of any ladder to look for damage that may cause a fall-related injury or death.

Maximum Work Length: This is not the length of the ladder, but the maximum height of the ladder that is still safe to stand on.

Working Load: The maximum capacity of weight that the ladder can hold, including personnel, materials, and tools.

Buy Ladders Online

Now that you know your ladder terminology, you are better prepared to choose a ladder that directly suits your needs. But, why buy ladders online? Why Many Consider a Werner Step Ladder with Platform

When searching for a step ladder to purchase in and around the home, a step ladder with platform is your best bet for safety, convenience, and versatility. There are many benefits to owning a ladder with a built-in platform from IndustrialLadder.com. Knowing your options before you buy will help you to make the decision that will give you the greatest advantage.

Werner PD6200 Series Ladder with Platform

This ladder provides many options that can benefit you on the job or at home. First, this platform ladder allows whoever is standing on the platform to face in any direction, without having to climb off the ladder to reposition. The platform is an extra-large design intended to give workers a large standing area while working. This standing workspace also includes a toe guard to prevent unnecessary falls while using the ladder. The extended guardrail gives the worker standing on the platform a place to rest his hands when off balance. Additionally, it holds small items and tools for added convenience. This state of the art Werner ladder is rated to hold up to 300 pounds of pressure.

Werner PD7300 Series Step Ladder with Platform

This step ladder is basically the same as the PD6200 series except that it has built on casters that allow for it to be transported with ease. The extra large platform still allows for movement while working. Each step is knee braced and slip resistant to ensure optimal safety. The footpads are enlarged for slip-proof placement, even when someone is standing on the ladder.

Little Giant Aerial Safety Cage Fiberglass

Construction safety regulations require that workers that go beyond a certain height must be attached to a rope tied to anchor for safety from falls. In some situations of construction jobs, this is just impossible to accomplish. The little giant aerial safety cage allows for workers to legally be over the height deemed unsafe without rope and anchor and to have use of both hands. This step ladder is made of a fiberglass material, which ensures that it will not rust or conduct electricity. The cage of this ladder is adjustable at every foot, giving options for multiple heights. This step ladder with platform also is able to be used in awkward situations, giving a safe alternative when dealing with stairs or uneven surfaces. The platform is completely surrounded by a cage, covering the worker with safety as he works. Wheel casters come standard with this ladder, giving it the option to be moved with ease on command.

Do you Need a Werner Extension Ladder?

Since there are many different options, choosing a ladder may not seem like the easiest task. A Werner extension ladder is a state of the art ladder designed for heavy-duty jobs in high up areas. You know that you need an extension ladder, but how do you know what kind? IndustrialLadder.com understands that choosing the proper extension ladder may be a daunting task, so we provide you with some help in choosing the right one for the job.

Questions to ask before Ladder Purchase:

  • What kind of projects do you need a ladder for?
  • How high do you need to reach with a ladder?
  • Will your ladder be used in or outdoors?
  • Will you be working close to electricity?
  • Will there be obstacles in the way of your ladder?
  • How much weight will your ladder need to withstand?

Once you have answered all of these questions, you will have a narrowed perception to what kind of extension ladder you need. Deciding exactly what your ladder needs to accomplish will help to pinpoint your options since there are many.

Different Material Options for Extension Ladders

Aluminum: This type of Werner extension ladder is the less expensive option. This is because they are less durable and more susceptible to bends and rust. Aluminum is a fine option if it is taken care of and stored indoors. The material is a conductible metal, so work around electricity is not suggested or safe. All aluminum Werner extension ladders come in three pieces and are easily transportable. They can hold a maximum of 300 pounds and extend up to 40 feet.

Fiberglass: This is a weather resistant material that will not rust and is extremely durable. Fiberglass extends the life of any step ladder, so it is the more expensive option for material. It is not conductible, so it provides a safer work environment when dealing with electricity. These ladders can withstand up to 300 pounds of pressure and extend up to 40 feet.

Purchasing a Werner Extension Ladder from IndustrialLadder.com

Knowing the options of ladders to buy is the best way to ensure safety on a job. Incorrectly using materials accounts for many of the ladder accidents that happen yearly. Using a Werner extension ladder for its designed purpose ensures your safety and will allow you to perform to the best of your ability. Convenience of Roofing with a Werner Harness System

If you are an experienced roofer, you know how dangerous roofing can be. Utilizing a Werner harness system gives you added convenience to move without worrying about a fall. Roofing harnesses provide the utmost safety for roofers that can’t be found with any other product. Werner harnesses are known to be the safest, easiest, and most reliable roofing safety systems available.

What you will Need

  • Drill
  • Hammer
  • Extension Ladder
  • Crowbar
  • Tape Measure
  • Harness System
  • Roofing Brackets
  • Nails and Screws
  • Plywood
  • Roofing Anchors

Installing and Using Roofing Brackets

To acquire a usable Werner harness system, you must first install roofing brackets to the structure. Brackets should be located about 18 inches from the eave of the roof and about 4 feet in width away from each other. Make sure the nails used directly go into a truss for support. Next, screw a 2×6 measured plank to the roofing brackets, and repeat the process every 8 feet up the roof for slide prevention. This also gives your tools somewhere to be placed that is easily reachable and safe.

Wearing and Using your Werner Harness

Before trying on your harness, make sure to inspect it first. Do not use a harness that looks overly worn, torn, or damaged in any way; as this could cause a fall. The harness should fit closely to your body, nice and snug. Install a roofing anchor directly above the area you are working on the peak of the structure. You should never be more than four feet away in width from the anchor you are using. Attach the lanyard, which is clipped to the back of the harness, to the roofing bracket. Move the rope grab as you move while working, to lessen slack and length of fall if it were to happen.

Purchasing a Werner Harness System

All the tools you need for a Werner harness system can be purchased through IndustrialLadder.com. There are many different options for harness systems, including climbing, positioning, standard, construction, retrieval, litefit, and basewear systems. Additionally, roofing brackets, lifelines, and lanyards can also be purchased through our website. All items will be shipped directly to your door for added convenience. We pride ourselves on or top of the line products and commitment to prime customer service, so if you are interested in any of our products and have any questions, please call us at 1-800-833-0800.

Step Ladder Safety Made Easy with Phone App

Undoubtedly, the most important thing to keep in mind when using a step ladder is safety. Every year in the United States around half a million people are admitted to the emergency for fall related accidents. Additionally, every year around 300 people dies from ladder falls. To prevent becoming a statistic, one should always prepare for ladder accidents, as they are so common. The step ladder safety app was designed and created by The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This phone application can be downloaded to a device and provides information on the proper setup, inspection, and use of step and extension ladders.

What does the Step Ladder Safety App Do?

Many jobs require the use of a ladder, so step ladder safety is imperative for many in the construction industry. The app is designed to help anyone that requires the use of a ladder to be able to perform ladder tasks safely. There are common reasons for ladder accidents, and the app addresses these as primary safety regulations to follow. These safety regulations that the NIOSH’s app covers includes:

  • Measuring angles: While using an extension ladder, it is imperative to place the ladder at a degree to the standing structure that prevents slips and falls. The app uses a measuring tool to help the user place the ladder at the appropriate angle, about 75 degrees.
  • Ladder selection help: The application provides a useful guide to different projects and the optimum ladders to use regarding user’s weight, the job at hand, and height of the desired task.
  • Inspection checklist: Proper inspection before use is imperative to preventing ladder accidents. The online tool provides a checklist of things to look for before using your ladder and potentially falling from oversight.
  • Accessory suggestions: The phone app additionally provides information on accessories that can be added to your ladder for more job convenience.
  • Instructional tool: Provides a list of safety regulations expected by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The OSHA can potentially come to job sites and do inspections, so keeping up with this step ladder safety list is suggested. An example of expected OSHA safety regulation would be ladder safety stickers. These warning and instructional labels provide needed information for ladder use like potential hazards, safety rating, and highest standing levels. If you already have a ladder that has missing, worn, or covered warning and duty safety labels, new labels can be purchased through our website.

How Do I Get the Step Ladder Safety App?

This application is provided for anyone with an IOS or Android system, and it can also be installed onto tablets. It is available in both English and Spanish versions and free of charge. To download, go to your phone store app (app store or play store) and search for the NIOSH ladder safety app. Once downloaded, you are ready for use! If you have any questions on step ladder safety or purchasing any of our products, please call IndustrialLadder.com at 1-800-833-0800.

The Conveniences of Narrow Frame Werner Scaffolding

The Conveniences of Narrow Frame Werner Scaffolding

Any scaffolding system will provide added benefits and convenience to performing a job. But, did you know that adding a narrow frame Werner Scaffolding system also improves overall safety for you and your employees? Many individuals are now choosing scaffolding over ladders not only for their added convenience but also for their decrease in chance of fall-related injury or death.

Why Choose Narrow Frame Werner Scaffolding?

Narrow Frame scaffolding, or baker scaffolding, is a very popular construction tool used in place of ladders for additional balance and leverage a ladder simply cannot provide. Narrow frame scaffolding is used as a term for a type of scaffolding that is transportable by wheels and a frame measuring less than three feet in width so that it can be easily transported through doorways. Additionally, narrow frame scaffolding can be adjustable in unstable areas like stairways. This makes narrow frame Werner scaffolding the most versatile since it can be used in multiple areas for numerous jobs. Types of jobs that narrow frame scaffolding can help with are:

  • Painting
  • Plastering
  • Drywall install
  • Any job that requires often position change

Practicing Safety While Using Narrow Frame Werner Scaffolding

As with any tool that offers height to perform a job, safety must be held in high regard when utilizing scaffolding systems. Practicing the proper safety techniques while using your narrow frame Werner scaffolding could save you or an employee’s life.
