Werner Ladder Company: The Official Ladder of the NCAA

It’s March, and that means that we’re in the midst of March Madness! The NCAA, or the National Collegiate Athletic Association, hosts the men’s division one championship each year, and it is known as March Madness. 68 teams that have all battled in their own conferences come together to face each other and determine a national champion. Although ladders may not be the first thing to come to mind when thinking about basketball, the Werner ladder company holds an honorary job title of the NCAA tournament each year as its official ladder.

The History of the NCAA Basketball Finals

The NCAA has held national men’s basketball finals since 1939. Also referred to as “The Big Dance”, March Madness has become one of the most popular and highly viewed television events annually. Each of the 68 teams is ranked from the beginning of the tournament and are placed in predetermined brackets. The national championship is usually scheduled in the first week of April, although most of the games throughout the tournament are held in March. The NCAA is a group of over 1,100 colleges with over half a million student-athletes. Of these half a million student-athletes, 54 thousand experience some form of NCAA final tournament.

The History of the Werner Ladder Company and the NCAA

Each year a new victor claims the title, but the official ladder stays the same. As per tradition, the winning team and coaches of the final tournament game, the national champions, get to cut down the basketball nets. This tradition started way back in 1947 and has been embraced as a way to symbolize the many functions of a team as they translate into a national championship. First to cut are the seniors, follows by the upperclassmen, freshmen, and coaching staff. Last but not least, the head coach cuts the final strand that kept the net from falling. Each player and coach ascend up a Werner ladder that leads them to the net, allowing them comfort and stability throughout the excitement.

Werner Platform Ladder

This year, Werner ladder has decided to choose their platform ladder collection as the ladders being used throughout the NCAA tournament. These ladders offer many advantages and benefits compared to the standard step ladder.

Werner PD6200 Series Ladder- An extra large platform with included toe guard allows for stability that resembles standing on the ground. The wide platform allows the user to have a 360-degree work space, as it is easy to turn to any positioning while standing on the platform. An extended guardrail works by providing a support beam around the working area of the platform and additionally provides the user with a place to place tools and other accessories from Werner. This collection of ladders is developed with a high-grade fiberglass solution to offer the most support and longest life of any ladder material. It can also hold up to 300 pounds of pressure for the biggest jobs.

Werner PD7300 Series Ladder- This collection of platform ladders are virtually the same as the 6200 series except for a few added benefits. Each design comes with two casters to make transit easy on solid ground. The Edge 360 solution means a bracing system on each rung of the ladder that offers ultimate support. With a rating of 300 pounds, a guardrail waist high support tool tray, and an extra large platform these ladders are great for almost any job.
